A Quarter of People Who Die From Coronavirus in England Have Diabetes

According to NHS England, 1 out of every four people killed from Covid-19 infections in the UK had diabetes.

A total of 5,873 diabetic patients passed away from coronavirus between March 31st and May 12th this year. That is approximately 26 percent of all UK Covid-19 deaths.

This report is the first time the NHS will be revealing data on hospital deaths and pre-existing health conditions. Previously, people with diabetes have been at moderate risk from the deadly virus. And so, they were excluded from the groups of people advised to stay at home because of fears that they were at higher risk.

Why this data is relevant To U.S. Citizens

10.5% of the US population suffers from diabetes, whereas 6% of the total UK population suffers from diabetes. This finding in the UK suggests that people with the condition are disproportionately affected by the novel coronavirus. This statistic implies similar assumptions for those with diabetes in the US.

Weighing in on the matter, Bridget Turner, Diabetes UK’s director of policy, said,

“The fact that more than a quarter of people who have died with Covid-19 have diabetes underlines the urgent need to ensure better protection and extra support is available to those in the clinically vulnerable groups.

We also need urgent action from government to understand the detail behind this figure, including diabetes type, age, ethnicity, medical history and comorbidities of those who have sadly died, so that we can know how to keep all people with diabetes safe,”

She added.

“Transparency is essential to ensure the human rights of detained people are protected. Yet this data raises more questions than it provides answers,”

said Deborah Coles, director of charity Inquest.

She added:

“More comprehensive data must be regularly published to understand not only the direct impact of Covid-19 and the indirect impact on therapeutic services, the use of restraint, medication, seclusion and self-inflicted deaths. Ultimately, the stronger the data analysis, the greater the opportunity to implement changes to safeguard lives.”

What measures you can take

In May 2020, President Donald Trump announced a lowering of the price of insulin for seniors. Undoubtedly, this decision made the drug more affordable. However, it did not mention the implications of increased risk of death for its users that contract Covid-19.

Despite extra measures that have been put in place so that people living with diabetes can manage their condition better during the pandemic, Type II diabetes remains a factor in an increased risk of severe complications and even death.

Most importantly, this finding has shed light on a certain fact. Now is the time to address the source of Type II diabetes rather than just focusing on living with the condition.

BioIntelligent Wellness offers an alternative approach, which instead reduces the need for prescription drugs.

Let’s face it; given the option, nobody likes to take medications. However, as our health declines or we develop symptoms, we typically get a prescription drug as frontline therapy rather than a specific prescription for dietary intervention. Why is this? Think about your last visit to the doctor:

  • How much time did you spend with your physician in the appointment?
  • Did they review your diet and make changes before prescribing a medication?
  • Did they ask you whether you want to manage symptoms or address the underlying condition?

Unfortunately, physicians don’t have the time or specialization to implement dietary changes with patients during office visits. This shortcoming is not their fault – it is the construct of today’s medical system that creates this challenge.

Luckily, the physicians we work with have another tool to offer their patients as an adjunct therapy. They provide an alternative to taking prescription drugs and for those on Type II diabetic medications already, a pathway to reduce the need for prescription medications.

With our Ideal Protein Reduce the Need for Prescription Drugs program, it is possible to lead a healthy lifestyle without the need for prescription drugs. By implementing our Ideal Protein protocol, we’ve helped many patients reduce the intake of prescription drugs from 5 or more medications a day to taking none! Moreover, those patients maintained their results for years.

How Ideal Protein does the trick

Our Ideal Protein plan is medically-designed to address the underlying issues that cause many of today’s common health conditions.

As you follow our method, you’ll stabilize your blood sugar levels while burning stored fat in your body. While on the program, we’ll also work together with your prescribing physician, helping you track and report your progress.

During the program, they will gradually lower and eventually discontinue medications for conditions such as high blood pressure, gout, high cholesterol, diabetes, and other associated conditions as you eliminate the need for prescription drugs by following the protocol and making lifestyle changes.

Many of our patients who used to depend on prescription drugs are now living a healthy, drug-free life!

You can achieve a safe and effective alternative to taking medications for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and type II diabetes.
