
Canned Tuna Ceviche
Bright, zesty, and refreshing — this quick ceviche swaps fresh fish for pantry-friendly canned tuna without losing the flavor punch.
Allowed for Ideal Protein phases 1 to 3.

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. Minced Red Onion
- 1 to 1½ Limes (Juiced)
- Kosher Salt, to taste
- Freshly Ground Black Pepper, to taste
- 1 tsp. Olive Oil
- 1(6-oz) Can Chunk White Albacore Tuna Packed in Water
- 1 Medium Plum Tomato, seeded and finely diced
- 2 tbsp. Chopped Cilantro
- 1 Jalapeño, minced (Keep Seeds for Spicy or Use Pickled)
- 3 Drops Tabasco Sauce (Optional)

Preparation
Step 1
Place minced red onion in a small bowl.
Step 2
Add lime juice and season with salt.
Step 3
Let sit for 5 minutes to mellow the onion’s sharpness.
Step 4
Drain the canned tuna well. Place it in a medium mixing bowl.
Step 5
Add diced tomato, chopped cilantro, and minced jalapeño to the tuna.
Step 6
Stir in the marinated onions with their lime juice.
Step 7
Add olive oil, a dash of pepper, and tabasco sauce (if using).
Step 8
Check seasoning. Add more lime juice, salt, or spice (as needed).
