Instant Pot Turnip Greens and Ham

Tender turnip greens simmered with smoky ham and simple spices for a rich, comforting taste of Southern tradition.

Allowed for Ideal Protein phases 1 to 3.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. Oil
  • ½ lb. diced Ham
  • 8 cups Turnip Greens, cleaned, stems trimmed, and chopped into 2-inch pieces
  • ¾ tsp. Fine Sea Salt
  • ½ tsp. Freshly ground Black Pepper
  • 1 tsp. Onion powder
  • 1 cup Water or low-sodium broth

Preparation

Step 1

Set the Instant Pot to Sauté mode. Add oil and diced ham. Cook 2–3 minutes until lightly browned.

Step 2

Add turnip greens to the pot, pressing them down gently to fit.

Step 3

Season with salt, black pepper, and onion powder.

Step 4

Pour in water or broth. Stir lightly.

Step 5

Secure the lid and set to Pressure Cook (High) for 10 minutes.

Step 6

Allow a natural pressure release for 5 minutes, then carefully quick-release remaining pressure.

Step 7

Open the lid, stir well, and serve warm.
