
Apple Cider Braised Cabbage
Warm, caramelized cabbage infused with tangy apple cider and smoky bacon—comforting, flavorful, and the perfect side dish for any meal!
Allowed for Ideal Protein phases 1 to 3.

Ingredients
- 1 tbsp. Olive Oil
- 6 cups Green Cabbage, (Cut into 6 wedges)
- ½ cup Bacon, Chopped
- 1 Medium Shallot, (thinly sliced lengthwise)
- To taste Kosher Salt
- 2 cups Apple Cider
- Freshly Ground Black Pepper

Preparation
Step 1
Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the cabbage wedges cut side down and cook turning once, until browned (About 8 minutes). Transfer to a plate
Step 2
Add bacon to the same pan and cook until crispy. Remove and set aside.
Step 3
In the same pan, sauté sliced shallots until soft.
Step 4
Place cabbage wedges back in the pan and season with salt.
Step 5
Pour in apple cider vinegar
Step 6
Cover and simmer for 20–25 minutes, until cabbage is tender.
Step 7
Sprinkle with crispy bacon and black pepper before serving.
Step 7
