Steamed Broccoli with Garlic and Lemon

Steamed Broccoli with Garlic and Lemon is a simple side dish that only takes a few minutes to prepare. Perfect for a week night dinner paired with a protein.

  • 5 cups Raw broccoli (cut into florets)
  • 1 tbsp. Extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. Garlic (Chopped)
  • 1½ tsp. Lemon juice
  • ½ tsp. Lemon zest
  • ¼ tsp. Salt
  • Freshly ground pepper – to taste

Preparation

Step 1

Bring 1 to 2 inches of water to a boil in a large saucepan fitted with a steamer attachment. Add broccoli, cover and steam until crisp tender, 3½ to 4½ minutes.

Step 2

Meanwhile, heat up oil and garlic in a medium skillet over medium heat – stir occasionally. Cook until the garlic is fragrant and just starting to brown – for 30 to 90 seconds.

Step 3

Scrape garlic mixture into a large bowl. Immediately add lemon juice. Add lemon zest, salt and pepper.

Step 4

Stir broccoli into the lemon mixture and stir to coat.

Step 5

Serve hot.
