Italian Tuna Pasta Salad
Italian Tuna Pasta Salad is a delicious and easy-to-make dish combining the Ideal Protein Rotini, flaky tuna, colorful vegetables, and zesty dressing. It’s a flavorful and satisfying meal or side.
Allowed for Ideal Protein phases 1 to 3.

- 2 packages of Ideal Protein Rotini.
- 1/2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp Distilled White Vinegar
- 1 tsp. Salt
- 1 tbsp. Lemon Juice
- 1 Garlic Clove, Minced
- 1½ tsp. Basil, Dried
- ½ tsp. Thyme, Dried
- ¼ tsp. Freshly Cracked Pepper
- 1/2 cup Onion White or Red, Diced
- 1/2 cup Cucumber, Dried
- 1/2 cup Halved Cherry Tomatoes
- 1/2 cup Sweet Pepper, Diced
- 1 Can Tuna Preferably Albacore, Drained & Flaked
- 1½ cup Cheese for Maintenance
Preparation
Step 1
Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside to cool.
Step 2
In a small bowl, whisk together the olive oil, white vinegar, salt, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried basil, dried thyme, and cracked pepper. Set aside.
Step 3
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled pasta, diced sweet onion, diced cucumber, halved cherry tomatoes, diced sweet pepper, and flaked tuna.
Step 4
Pour the prepared dressing over the pasta and tuna mixture. Toss gently to coat all the ingredients with the dressing.
Step 5
Taste and adjust the seasonings if needed.
Step 6
Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to blend together.
Step 7
Before serving, give the pasta salad a good stir. If desired, garnish with additional grated cheese.
